The Railway Protection Force (RPF), South Central Railway celebrated its Raising Day at a colourful function organised at RPF Training Centre, Moula-Ali, on Saturday. The Raising Day is celebrated to commemorate the conferring of Armed Force status on Railway Protection Force on par with the other paramilitary forces of the Union of India.

The Raising Day is celebrated to commemorate the conferring of Armed Force status on Railway Protection Force on par with the other paramilitary forces of the Union of India.


Umesh Singh, Additional General Manager (SCR), who was the Chief Guest at the function, received the Guard of Honour and inspected the parade. “The RPF came into force as a watch and ward organisation and subsequently evolved as Railway Security Force in 1954.


Eventually, on this very day RPF got the status of Statutory Force with enactment of RPF Act in the Parliament,” informed Singh. At present, 70,000 RPF personnel are involved in the task of protecting Railway property and its users. Solan Gupta, Chief Electrical Engineer, SCR; Aruna Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad; other officials and RPF Trainees were present during the celebrations.


Twelve platoons of RPF including one each of Railway Special Protection Force (RPSF) and of RPF Women Constables led by Parade Commander, M Sambasiva Rao, Assistant Security Commissioner, RPF, Vijayawada Division took part in the Parade. SG Murali Krishna, Vice Principal, RPF Training Centre, Moula Ali presented the vote of thanks.
