A high-level meeting between top officials of the Railway Board and the South Central Raiway (SCR) discussed ways and means to improve SCR’s revenue and efficiency in the city on Friday.


The meeting, chaired by SCR boss, discussed issues like preventing detentions of goods trains short of zonal boundaries, utilisation of special stock goods wagons, increasing interchange of goods trains for clearance of increased loading and improving punctuality; the focus was on raising the bar.


The full board meeting was held to review the performance of East Coast Railway, Southern Railway, South Central Railway, South East Central Railway and South Western Railway. The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of the new measures recommended by the Bibek Debroy report.


Top officials of the Railway Board Rajalakshmi Ravikumar, Finance Commisioner; Navin Tandon, Member Electrical; VK Gupta, Member Engineering; Hemant Kumar, Member Mechanical; Pradeep Kumar, Member Staff; Kundan Sinha, Member Traffic and Ganga Ram Agarwal, secretary, participated in the deliberations.
