Around 150 people including members of the oraganising groups, IFROS and AMMA, policemen, students and teachers of Rajadhani Model High School participated in the walkathon that sensitised people towards the use of helmet, drunken driving and over speeding.

Talking about the motive behind the event, President of IFROS Vinod Kanumala says “The main agenda of this initiative is to engage people and make them aware of road safety and its associated aspects.

We want to convey a loud and clear message, especially to young people to adopt and learn the skills to be safe drivers. This initiative will be continued for six months to identify the black spots, the problems faced by the public and to rectify it.”

Commenting on the expected results from the initiative, he says, “We are looking for an accident free zone and people following rules and regulations of traffic.”

When asked about the present condition of the roads due to the ongoing water pipeline works, he said, “We have included that matter as well and it has been put up in the agenda. We will be starting from Malkajgiri and carrying it forward to other localities. Our intention is to make the place better and safe.”

The walkathon, which flagged off from Anandbagh X Roads, Malkajgiri to Sri Radhakrishna Samajam was attended by T Raghunath, Joint Transport Commissioner, Swaminathan, Founder of AMMA group, Shaker Goud, CI of Malkagjiri and other community partners.
