“The whole area surrounding the tomb could be developed as a tourist spot and the metro stations close by could be developed as heritage tourism points,” said N V S Reddy, MD, HMR, on Monday.

In an innovative project, the Architecture and Design Foundation (India), Alliance Francaise, in collaboration with the city of Bordeaux are organising a weeklong workshop in which university professors and students from France and Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts, would be brainstorming on how to develop the Raymond’s Tomb as a tourist spot.

As part of the workshop the group would ideate on improving the landscape, approach roads and streets with signage and make the area interesting for tourists. N V S Reddy said that there was a lot of scope for innovation and no structural and engineering constraints. He advised the students to think out-of-the-box and come up with ideas so that there would be value additions to the metro stations.
