The ‘Eye Donation Fortnight Celebrations’, organised by Swetcha Gora Eye Bank have come to an end after a series of cultural and academic activities that were organised to educate public, especially children on the importance of donating eyes.

Speaking at the conclusion of the donation drive, Managing Director of Efftronics D Rama Krishna opined that donating eyes is like living twice. ‘’Eyes are vital organs of human body and who have vision are most privileged. It is their responsibility to gift a sight to others after their death.

Eye donation has more prominence over other organ donations and is considered sacred.” He assured the organisers of sensitising their 500 plus employees over the issue. He said he would also encourage them to pledge individually for donating eyes.

Nearly 44 prizes for the winners of various literary and cultural activities were given away by Rama Krishna and other guests including principal of Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Medical College Dr P S N Murthy and principal of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala T Vijaya Lakshmi.

The Eye Donation Fortnight celebrations awareness campaign kick started with a painting and drawing competition for the school and College students on August 28. Competitions in Essay Writing, Elocution, singing, quiz were also held to mark the awareness campaign.

Later, a few rallies, awareness seminars and pamphlets distribution was held at educational institutions, hospitals, offices and other important junctions in the city.
