Continuing its string of initiatives aimed at bettering the lives and social stature of employees, Ola is launching a free after school programme, ‘Gurukul’ for its drivers’ children to perform on par with others.

The programme, which is being offered in association with ‘Avanti Learning Centres’, aims to empower children for better performance in board exams.

The first batch will have up to 500 children of grades nine and ten at the Avanti centres in Mumbai. It will be extended to Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. In addition, Ola will be providing free stationery, books and course material to top performing children.

Announcing the initiative on Teachers’ Day, Pranay Jivrajka, Chief Operating Officer at Ola said, “A lot of these kids do not receive proper support after school as both their parents work, leaving nobody else to coach them.

We have always believed in bettering not just driver income but also their lifestyles and ‘Gurukul’ takes a big leap in that road by offering better education to their children.”The programme comes as a valuable addition to Ola’s driver initiatives.
