Parts of the district including the AP capital region villages are reeling under the grip of fevers. Despite some effort being put in by the medical and health department, people are falling prey to fever conditions fast spreading due to change in weather, poor sanitary conditions and consumption of polluted drinking water.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr T Padmaja told The Hans India that the office of DMHO is alive unto the fever problem and counter measures like DDT spraying, fogging and chlorination of tanks were being taken with the help of Panchayath Raj and Rural Water Supply department for tackling water pollution if any.

“There is no cause for alarm as the fevers are under control and medical camps were being conducted in all the fever villages,” she stated. Assuring citizens she said, “There were a few cases of patients testing positive for malaria and dengue but they were being given special attention.

Deaths reported in Tadepalli were due to liver failure and had nothing to do with the fever cases. People who are coming with complaints of physical weakness were being administered fluids in the Primary Health Centres. Teams of doctors are effectively tackling seasonal diseases.” Mangalagiri and Tadepalli mandals are particularly under the grip of fever.

Fevers are more prevalent in mostly SC, ST and BC residential colonies. Three deaths have been reported in the Tadepalle mandal due to jaundice. Bethapudi, Nidamarru and Kuragallu in Mangalagiri mandal and Undavalli, Vaddeshwaram in Tadepalli mandal and Peddavaram and Mandadham in Thulluru mandal are reeling under the grip of fever. Over the past one week more than 500 cases of fevers were reported from the three mandals.
