Incorporate neon colours into your decor tastefully and give your home a trendy look

It's no secret that neon is back and you can spot it from a mile away. Just as neon shades have re-entered the fashion realm by appearing as clothing pieces and accessories, they have put their stamp on interiors also as furniture pieces and artifacts.

Neon goes long way

When decorating with neon at home, keep the rest of the space neutral so that the colours pop and energise rather than overwhelm. Consider using white, black or grey as a neutral backdrop to display accessories in vibrant neon shades.

Don't overdo it. If using neon in a print, pick up one of the shades in another accent piece like a vase. Some wellpriced accessories include bright orange and green ottomans, a ceramic lamp in citrus, a large selection of colourful kitchen tools and mirrored decorative boxes.

From end-tables and desk accessories to couches and duvet covers, even large elements of neon home decor in moderation can be inviting without being tacky. Use neon in small doses.

In a dining room, start with a glass table, white walls and pop it with bold colourful neon dinnerware, placemats and vases which are afford able and fun! If you dare to go even bolder, use neon print accent chairs.

Midas touch

You can add hues of neon to bits and pieces of your furniture, making a style statement and grabbing eyeballs. A pop of neon could be added to the bathroom with hot orange containers. Your balcony can have electric pink plant pots.

Just three coats of electric pink spray paint and you shall have two-toned planter pot. The balance of neutral and neon is right on. The living room could be given the subtle punch of neon by having the legs of the centretable painted in hot orange hue and adding the same hot orange in a vase or a painting to let your den go dashing with pops of neon.

Neon accents

Furniture aside, it's fun to hunt for accents that make a room look good. Like neon chandelier could be an ornate space that would boast a fluorescent centerpiece in acid green.

Or you could have a neon tubing installation in the place of flames in the fireplace. Throw in a bright basket-weave chair, and a modern room is born. Neon ceramics are also an amazing way to introduce a pop of colour into the home.
