In order to increase employable literacy among youth, ‘Make a Difference’ (MAD) is organising an event titled ‘Back-a-thon’ on Sunday, at PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science.

A group of youngsters from the city, who got united for the social cause of MAD, are leaving no stone unturned for the success of the campaign aimed at promoting literacy.

The event will be held in 23 cities across the country simultaneously where MAD is active. A distance of 800m to 900m will be covered as part of `Back-a-thon’ by the participants. The aim of MAD is to enter the Guinness Book of World Records through the event.

Speaking to The Hans India, P Lasya, a core member of the organising committee, said, “We are planning to hold the event on a large scale to spread the social message.

‘Back-a-thon’ is an attempt to highlight the lack of basic amenities for children living in shelters. Every volunteer needs to bring 20 members for the event to ensure its success.’’

“About 1,200 people are expected to participate in Back-a-thon,” said M Prabhu Vani, a volunteer. 11vza 01 to 06: Young volunteers of Make a Difference (MAD) discussing about their campaign Backathon in Vijayawada on Friday.
