Inspiring change agents in city. “The event is not an end but the beginning of a movement to galvanise the people of Hyderabad to come together and help build a better city,” said Anthony Vipin Das, TED Senior Fellow and Licensee and Curator, TEDxHyderabad 2015.
Thirteen eminent speakers that included names like Ritu Karidal, scientist who led the ‘Mangalyaan’ team and Palam Kalyanasundaram whom the UN has named one of the outstanding people of the 20th century amongst others took to stage and shared stories captivating the 500 carefully selected attendees at the TEDx Hyderabad event titled ‘Unfolding Journeys’ at CMC Auditorium in Gachibowli on Sunday.
The event was a platform to inspire change makers in Hyderabad to come together, network and share experiences to motivate and inspire each other. Speaking about his experience at the TEDxHyderabad, Agriculture Scientist GV Ramanjaneyulu said, “I strongly believe that it’s always the journey that is exciting than the destination itself. It’s a wonderful opportunity to listen to a galaxy of speakers unfold their journeys.
I am very excited and looking forward to be part of the TEDxHyderabad community.” The speakers included Scientist Ritu Karidal, who led the team behind India’s successful Mars orbiter mission 'Mangalyaan'; renowned agriculture scientist GV Ramanjaneyulu who has waged a war against the use of pesticides in farming; the humanist and activist Babu Gogineni who has dedicated his life to spread the message about rationalism, logic and love for humanity; Armstrong Pame, the first IAS officer from the Zeme tribe of Nagaland.
He connected his district, Tousem to the rest of the country by building a 100 km long road by raising funds through social media. Entrepreneur Raman Roy, who is credited with starting the India BPO revolution; Kshitij Marwah, a master innovator working on spreading the movement of anti-disciplinary learning, hands-on creation and design thinking across India; Palam Kalyanasundaram, an award winning social service man whom the United Nations has called as one of the most outstanding people of the 20th century.
Guest speakers included personalities from the field of art, music and sport including Carnatic Vocalist Manasi Prasad; Swiss musician Joe Koster who runs a music institute with an aim of introducing western classical music and Jazz to the people of Hyderabad; Zena El Khalil, a visual artiste from Lebanon who uses art to raise awareness on issues pertaining to animal rights, civil marriage, as well as spread love, peace and positivity; Third generation photographer Lenny Emanuel, a moment capturer by heart; Change agent Anshul Sinha, creator of thought provoking short films like 'Gateway to Heaven', and adventurer Colleen “Lightbody” who knows what it is to overcome perceived challenges.
“It has been a lifelong dream to visit India. I am incredibly honored to have been invited to share my message of peace from Lebanon. I know that with the amazing participants of the TEDxHyderabad community, we can all work together towards making the world a better place. I cannot thank TEDxHyderabad enough for this wonderful opportunity,” said Zena el Khalil, visual artiste from Lebanon.
