Gurukuls to absorb welfare hostellers: Kishore Babu. Social Welfare Minister Ravella Kishore Babu visited a welfare hostel at Ravindranagar on Sunday morning and had lunch with the children and officials. He interacted with the boys and girls and enquired about hostel conditions and studies.

Social Welfare Minister Ravella Kishore Babu visited a welfare hostel at Ravindranagar on Sunday morning and had lunch with the children and officials. He interacted with the boys and girls and enquired about hostel conditions and studies.
Speaking to reporters, Ravella revealed that the social welfare hostels in the state are totally being over-hauled and all hostel students will be taken into the Gurukula Patasalas and the buildings for which are being constructed.
The minister said that under phase 1, as many as 5000 students will be transfered into Gurukula Patasalas. “Already 2,500 of them have been shifted into the new buildings. Once basic amenities are created in the new buildings the remaining 2,500 children also would be shifted,” he said.
Explaining details of the costs involved, he said, “Tenders had been called for construction of three Gurukula Patasalas in the district including the one at Kakamenu, which is being built at Rs 13 crore and at Adavithakillapadu at Rs.15 crore. Another one is being built at Thadikonda at Rs 13 crores.”
The minister also inspected two hostels at Mangalagiri, which he said are in good shape. Social Welfare joint director R Mallikarjuna Rao was also present.
