A group of 19 artists across India have put down their brush to contribute for social change, through their paintings. The result is a three-day Art Camp titled, ‘Art for Social Cause’ that began on Thursday at Saptaparni, Banjara Hills.

A group of 19 artists across India have put down their brush to contribute for social change, through their paintings. The result is a three-day Art Camp titled, ‘Art for Social Cause’ that began on Thursday at Saptaparni, Banjara Hills.

Participating artists include K Laxma Goud, Thota Vaikuntam, Fawad Tamkanat, Laxman Aelay, Sachin Jaltare and Ramesh Gorajala amongst others.

‘Art for Social Cause’ is curated by Bhaskar Rao B, a disciple of Laxma Goud. Through this initiative, Mytrah Energy, the organiser aims to promote art and culture in India. Post the three-day camp,

Mytrah Energy in collaboration with Gallery Space, with exclusive and rare artwork collections of eminent artists, will showcase all the paintings in an exclusive exhibition on October 10.

Proceeds from the exhibition will be donated towards a social cause. The camp is on until Saturday.Fawad Tamkanat, an eminent painter in the city, said, "I do both figurative and non-figurative paintings but am most interested in architectural paintings.

With growing technology, there has been a disappearance of old heritage buildings. To save them through my paintings is my intention."

Fawad added that, "I usually paint the way I lead my life. Art is neither professional nor life. It’s the way all of us live."

Artists also turned up from different places. One among them was Wahida Ahmed Hannah from Guwahati. "I usually feel that a painting is incomplete without colour.

Not that every piece needs colour, I prefer colour in my paintings as it is a medium of expression," she said. Wahida paints objects. There lies a theme in every of her painting. She paints about the current Socio-Political scenario through her paintings.

TVS Krishna, another artist from Hyderabad, paints figurative paintings. "I express through my imagination. Art is a great gift from God and when artists paint, people are entertained out of that piece," he said.
