Opposition party legislators from the city are sharpening their swords to attack the TRS government on civic issues in the ongoing monsoon session of the Telangana State Assembly.

TDP MLAs are prepared to raise the damaged road network and drinking water scarcity in many Assembly constituencies falling under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

The MLAs also allege the weakening of the Corporation by transferring its funds to other departments particularly Road Transport Corporation (RTC).

Qutbullapur MLA KP Vivekananda Goud said that in his constituency, drinking water supply has been stopped in many localities in the last one month.

In some areas water is being supplied once in a week only. He already forwarded questions including encroachment of drains and pending infrastructure works requesting the Assembly Secretariat to allow the party to raise such important issues in the house.

“The government is functioning at the behest of officers of the Corporation and has left people in the lurch,” he alleged.Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath said, “TRS made many promises for the overall development of the Corporation but in reality not a single promise has been fulfilled.

Drainage network even in posh areas in the city was damaged due to recent heavy rains. But no action was taken to strengthen the network.”

BJP MLA NVSS Prabhakar alleged that poor sanitation was the main reason for the outbreak of Swine Flu, dengue and other dreaded diseases in the city.

His party would not relent until the government comes out with a plan of action to prevent epidemics in the city in the Assembly. He alleged that the government failed in the proper utilisation of funds released by the Centre under Swachh Bharat recently.

MIM leaders reportedly are planning to notify the government of the delay in completing civic infrastructure projects particularly road works and the issue of irregular drinking water supply in slum areas in Old City.
