The sudden postponement of the Tapeswaram Maha Laddu (6000 kg) distribution by temple authorities has left devotees disappointed and upset with the Ganesh Utsava Committee.

The sudden postponement of the Tapeswaram Maha Laddu (6000 kg) distribution by temple authorities has left devotees disappointed and upset with the Ganesh Utsava Committee.

Failing the distribution as per the plan, a commotion broke out between the temple committee members and devotees, who came from far off districts from both states and waited for long hours on Wednesday.

However, local police intervened and pacified the situation. Disappointed devotees Gowri Sowjanya and Bharathi, who came from Eluru, said that this was a sad incident for them and thousands of other people.

“It was our first and last time to come here for the prasadam. We will not come again,” they said. The distribution was set to be on Wednesday as announced through print and broadcast media.

Temple authorities announced the postponement due to unforeseen circumstances in the late hours on Tuesday. Speaking on the matter, convener of the Ganesh Utsava Committee, G Sandeep Raj Mudiraj said,

“We are forced to postpone to Thursday as the local police is busy in bandobast duties at assembly sessions after the gherao call given by political parties.

In the absence of police supervision and protection, it is risky to distribute the Maha Laddu Prasadam.”

The proposed date for the distribution is Friday. “It is a public holiday; we expect the required police support to be available for ensuring prompt and proper supply to the devotees.

“We convey our sincere regrets to the public who come in large numbers (over 10,000) to take the prasadam from far off places,” said the convener. 3000 kg will be distributed at Khairatabad and the rest at the Tapeswaram centre.
