An unprecedented rush of devotees during the distribution of the Tapeswaram Maha Laddu of Khairatabad Ganesh lost their patience making the situation chaotic on Friday.
Devotees, lined up from 6.30 am, broke the queue in spite of heavy security. Barricades were broken down and a minor stampede resulted in injuries to a few people.
The Ganesh Utsav Committee soon announced the exhaustion of the prasadam and appealed to the devotees to leave the premises.
Due to this, of the 60,000 devotees who had gathered, only half of them received the prasadam. Disappointed devotees blamed the Temple Committee and police for poor arrangements citing their suffering earlier this week when the distribution was abruptly postponed.
