It is official! The Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) will be back again, come January 2016. The dates for the same, and other features to look forward to, have been announced. HLF 2016 is charted for 7 – 10 January. Book and art lovers everywhere can mark their calendars in anticipation for more literature within the next three months. The fest which attracts several participants and visitors each year is an intense cultural program when Hyderabadis should not miss out on.

The traditional highlight of the festival each year is ‘Guest Nation’ and this year Singapore will be featured. Another of HLF’s attractions is the ‘Indian Language in Focus’, with this year’s focus on Marathi. As is the custom, HLF will lay emphasis on learning about endangered languages, and featuring differently-abled authors. There will also be a session on LGBT.

HLF 2016 is expected to be all about history and historiography. The festival will have workshops for children and young adults. An environmental session called ‘A Different World Order’ and a dance panel called ‘Third Eye’ will also be held. As always, HLF promises to be exciting with its exhibitions and screenings, lecture-demonstrations, music, theatre and dance performances.

Among events to be expected, are the story-telling and music show at Singapore Cultural Event, an interactive Art Street, an exhibition on Gender and Identity and others. Pre-events will be held at schools, colleges and other spaces starting this October.
