Capturing the happy streets of India

Artistes and photographers dream to bring out societal issues in their works. However, it takes effort to achieve the same. Yannick Cormier, 40-year-old Frenchman with a passion for photography since 2003, seeks to do the same.

His photographs are being exhibited for the first time in Alliance Française in Hyderabad. Cormier usually works on photographs that cover issues with conflict and sensitive matters. He has worked with magazines of international repute.

Currently settled in Chennai he is the founder of ‘Trikaya Photos’. Stepping aside from this theme of photography, Cormier is showcasing his works which capture life on the streets of India.

The idea of the lensman that portray Buddhist monks playing cricket, women dancing near a temple, a small baby boy holding a cycle, is that every person has to be forget whats happening around them and enjoy life.

Explaining his concept, Yannick says, “First and foremost, there is emotion and fascination exercised on me as a result of my encounters with these images.

The body of photographic work takes interest in those forgotten by the Indian economic miracle.”A visit to his exhibition will ensure a feeling of awe at the depiction of the reality in India, uncovered and captured by the photographer.

The exhibition will end on October 10.
