Harish Rao promises partnership with UBF in the fight against breast cancer to implement population based breast cancer screening in TS
Around 3,000 people from all walk sof life, breast cancer ‘conquerors’ and their families, participated in the seventh edition of the 2K Pink Ribbon Walk at KBR Park on Sunday. A huge contingent of students including people from old city participated in the walk and rxpressed solidarity with the campaign.
The slogan ‘Does Your Heart Beat for Early Detection of Breast Cancer?’ resonated with Hyderabadis who extended unprecedented support to the campaign organised by Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation (UBF) and KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases in association with The Association of Breast Surgeons of India and FLO Hyderabad Chapter.
Minister for Irrigation, Harish Rao promised that State Government would partner with UBF and stand shoulder to shoulder with the Foundation in implementing the population based breast cancer screening programme throughout the state reaching out to the entire underprivileged community making Telangana a benchmark state in the country. “In the next few months plans will be drawn out to reach this objective within a timeframe of three years,” he said.
Encouraged by the huge success in implementing South Asia’s largest Breast Cancer Screening Programme covering 1, 76, 000 underprivileged women spread across 3,900 villages in 15 districts of Telangana and AP, UBF is forging formal partnership with Govt. of Telangana and AP to ensure that the entire underprivileged community in both states between the ages of 35 – 65 years are screened for early signs of breast cancer, thus making these two states a role model for the entire Country.
