GM-Geology has empowered the inmates of the Central Jail by extending financial assistance of Rs 10 Lakhs towards installing an advanced steel furniture moulding machine.

Bhavana, gave the cheque to K Raghu, DSP, Central Jail today in Base Complex. Speaking on the occasion,

Bhavana reasoned that the new machine will facilitate the jail inmates to manufacture school furniture at faster pace and meet the increasing demand of the primary schools in the three districts-East, West and Krishna, the operational areas of ONGC.

Further, it will enable the jail-inmates to learn the sophisticated skills of making steel furniture and lead a better life after serving their jail term.

ONGC has identified 1288 primary schools in these districts for making them ‘furniture sufficient’ in near future. On the occasion, Rs 20 lakhs were given towards school furniture to 257 schools in these districts.

Expressing gratitude to ONGC on the occasion, K Raghu, DSP assured that the noble gesture of ONGC will go a long way in improving the skills of the inmates and fulfills the needs of the deserving poor.
