On the occasion of Kavisamrat Viswanatha Satyanarayana's fortieth death anniversary, a book releasing function was held at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday. The programme was held under the auspices of Viswanatha Sahitya Peetam.

The four books released were, ‘Thousand Hoods - an English version of Viswanatha's Veyipadagalu,’ translated by C Subba Rao, U Atreya Sarma, Dr Aruna Vyas, Dr Vaidehi Sasidhar and S Naryana Swamy; ‘Veyipadagala loni Mukhyamsalu’, ‘Naati Kinnerasani Patale Neti Projectuku Sphoorti Batalu’ written by Dr Velchala Kondal Rao; and ‘Telangana - A Classic Cultural Khazaana’ compiled and edited by Dr Velchala Kondal Rao.

The books were released by the Deputy Speaker of AP State Legislative Assembly, Mandali Buddha Prasad and others.

Many guests of honour including cine actor Tanikella Bharani and others spoke in one voice about Viswanatha's multi-faceted literary genius and eulogised the services being rendered by Dr Velchala Kondal Rao to the cause of literature, particularly Viswanatha literature.

Mandali Buddha Prasad said that Viswanatha was able to foresee the problems we are facing today like atmospheric pollution, the endangered ecological balance and the unsettling globalisation in their essence. “Viswanatha was a great patriot,” he added.

A talk about the unique heritage and culture of Telangana was a highlight of the session, which was preceded by a ballet performance on Kinnerasani Patalu presented by Swati Somanath and her troupe, much to the delight of the audience.
