Art is one of the most beautiful ways to express feelings and emotions in different forms like painting, drawing and photography. G Bharat Bhushan is one such artist who captures and expresses rural culture of Telangana through his lens and paintings.

With keen observation and imagination, Bhushan presents unique and exclusive drawings and paintings. Some of his works were displayed at an ongoing exhibition at ICCR Art Gallery, Ravindra Bharathi. His works that were on display speak volumes about his observation of nature and rural life since his childhood.

The exhibition which has 72 drawings depicted Telangana folk and tribal culture. The gallery featured his paintings on Kodi Koltata, Gangireddulu, Hari Dasu, Chindu Bhagavatham, Totem, Pothraju and many more. His paintings portrayed the authentic costumes worn by rural women of the region.

Talking about his drawings he says, “I like both painting and photography, but due to health issues I am unable to move out, so am concentrating more on paintings. It takes time and a lot of hard work to complete a painting as it needs a lot of imagination, creativity and observation.”

Bhushan, who had a passion for drawing since his childhood later went onto choose photography as a profession. He worked on five solo paintings and seven solo photographs. ‘Bathukamma’ was one of his famous photography themes which he exhibited ten years ago.

In this recognition of his works, the Telangana government has awarded him as the Best Photographer award recently. Apart from his fame for his photography and paintings, Bhushan is also known for his writings.

His works are considered by many as admiring and breath-taking, owing to the will-power he possesses towards his passion.

What is more inspirational is that he spends most of his time expressing beauty of nature through his painting and his lens, despite battling a chronic disease. Deciding to put his illness aside, Bhushan has planned to paint on themes such as ‘Lambadi’ and ‘Pochampally.’

His recent paintings explained the overall view of Telangana culture and it’s not easy to put such observations in paper. “Art is something which needs a lot of interest and practice,” says Bhushan, as he signs off.
