After receiving much flak from civilians on the announcement of the closure of Gough Road shortly, the Army Authority in Secunderabad stated the attitude of people has been unjust and stubborn towards them.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Army Authorities has informed that other Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) roads would continue to remain open during the day for some more time. Emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, fire engines, private vehicles with critical patients would be allowed to go through the roads at any time, on humanitarian grounds. In addition, the Authority has assured its assistance to agencies responsible to plan and complete alternate arrangements.

The statement cites references to the order of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in September 2014 that had ruled in favour of the Army’s authority to close the roads and that the Army had deferred the same to allow time for creation of alternate avenues for civilian traffic movement.
