Tollywood actress Neha Deshpande inaugurated the Pochampally IKAT Art Mela at State Art Gallery in Madhapur on Friday. The ten-day event has exclusive handloom and hand-woven eco-friendly products presented by renowned textile designers and weavers in exquisite designs and contemporary colours.

Ranging from home textile to apparel fabrics, stoles, scarves and sarees in silk and cotton the expo has it all including table mats, covers, hand bags and engineered blends.

Speaking about the mela, Neha said, “It’s glad to see the apparel, particularly designer fabrics, silk and cotton sarees. Platforms such as this are required to reach out women looking for well-designed handmade cotton, silk wear and exclusive home textile.”

Lava Kumar, Director of Pochampally Handloom Park said, “Handlooms are part of an age-old tradition of Indian culture and rich artistry. By promoting handlooms, we support the artisans and local community, who have been passing on their skills for generations. Promoting creativity and originality, each design is a result of individual artisan’s creativity, which is influenced by the local traditions and cultures.”
