‘One Lakh Hands’ will write letters for cause

One Lakh Hands, an initiative to support “Car Free Thursday” was launched at Hotel NKM’s Grand on Sunday. Under this initiative, one lakh school children from class 4 – 10 will be involved in writing and sending handwritten letters to one lakh employees and appealing them to adapt an alternative and public transportation at least once a week.

As part of the launch, kids from Jain Heritage School gave their handwritten letters to the guests and media covering the event conveying their wish for the city. It was followed by MIME act by Talent Zone kids on the Traffic Issues.

Speaking at the launch, founder director of IdentCity Vishala Reddy, who conceptulaised both ‘Car Free Thursdays’ and ‘One Lakh Hands’ said, “As part of this initiative, a school band will also be introduced that will perform in IT companies.

“We have already got an approval from world famous singer and composer, Mark Shepard to use his song "Together We Can Change The World" that fits into One Lakh Hand objective,” Vishala added.

The initiative has been designed by IdentCITY and is being supported by the Transport Department of Telangana, Telangana State Pollution Control Board, Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) and other IT companies.

“Kids will be best influencers on the society. We will effectively use this platform to create awareness on the road safety among next generation,” said Sandeep Sultania, Transport Commissioner.

Adding a note on community involvement, Vishala Reddy said, “While we are aggressively promoting destinations to attract tourism and investments, it’s equally important for us to sort out some challenges like water crisis, lack of clean infrastructure and traffic problem. Only the Government mechanism doesn’t work. Community role is very important.”

The project will also be supporting the ‘Horn NOT OK please’ campaign that is being introduced by CII Young Indians. The launch function was attended by Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary ITE&C, B Venkateswarlu, Joint Transport Commissioner, Bharani Kumar Aroll, Secretary and Praveen Agarwal from Young India.
