The handicrafts and handlooms exhibition set up by Lepakshi Emporium under the handicrafts corporation at Vidya Sadan hall has been drawing crowds in large number. The expo which showcases versatile hand made products ranging from kitchen ware to clothing and textiles has become the happening evening destination for college students and the general public.

Ethnic prints, eco -friendly colored products, handmade block and tie-dye products along with wooden carving murals for doors and hangings are reigning supreme amidst invasion of synthetic and western outfits ruling the roost.

People who have taste for class and elegance still go for these authentic single pieces and skill based designer works. Besides, these hand made products are available in different choices of colors, purpose and designs. For example, one gets to have a look at Kalamkari bed linen as well as the painted cloth and kurthis. There are Kalamkari shirts and sarees in the natural color print at the same stall.

There are numerous products that were brought from places like Gujarat, Lucknow, Jaipur, New Delhi, Kashmir, Tamil Nadu besides our famous Narsapur hand- crocheted lace works, Pochampally ikat work fabrics, Machilipatnam rold gold covering ornaments and etc.

There are varieties of pottery and clay works that add classic look to the exteriors and lawns. The clay products were made to suit every home in small, medium and lawn set-up sizes. There are light stands, large bowls with handles and carvings, colored figurines, clay made kitchen ware like water jugs, glasses, cooking pots and etc that are amusing the younger generation.

‘Adding to the existing stock were the fashion accessories that were brought from Mumbai for the college going experimental candidates. Special Diwali lighting sets were also earning good response from the public’’, said the organizer and showroom manager Venkataramanappa.
