Banning sharing autos not a good idea

There are reports in a section of press that sharing autos will be banned from next year. The news has suddenly come out of blue and the decision is more baffling. The sharing autos are doing yeoman service to the travellers and a one-sided decision can't be made by the government. All stakeholders mainly the travellers were not taken into confidence. The concept of sharing autos developed and blossomed only due to the arbitrary and dictatorial attitude of the metered auto wallahs. Yes, there are issues, but solution could be found to the problem of sharing autos filling more than permissible number of persons. But it must also be pertinent to note that people voluntary tuck themselves in these autos and there is no compulsion.
The main reason behind this idea of banning is that the business of metered auto wallahs and the RTC is nose diving. Where there is competition, it always benefits the customer. So it’s a silly idea to totally ban sharing autos but at the same time , there is a need to educate the operators and regulate their operations.
