It is a welcome decision to ban share autos. They take advantage of rules, remove meters and cause much to the inconvenience and embarrassment to passengers. Seat capacity is 3 persons but 5 persons are pushed in and 2 are made to sit on either side of driver. Young Girls, ladies, children and old people are mercilessly pushed in.

These autos ply between main roads and the colonies which are not well-connected. People have no choice except to take these autos. Absence of public transport or their less frequency has given an opportunity to these share autos. My request to authorities is to improve connectivity from colonies to main roads.

Mini buses may be allowed to shuttle between colony and nearest main road stop of express buses. Secondly, as is known to everyone, twin cities auto drivers are known for their rude behavior; no one is prepared to run auto on meter – they want double or half return fare even during day time. They need to be regulated and such practice needs to be curbed. Auto drivers without formal education and training on manners bring disrepute to the city and hurt the tourism industry.
