Google Glass successors could come without a display and focus only on audio. Google had renamed Glass as Project Aura and according to the report, the display-less version is focused on more active, sporty users.

It will rely on bone conduction for the audio just like the original Google Glass. The report adds that Google is also planning an enterprise version with a display as well.

Google’s Project Aura still being headed by Ivy Ross, who previously ran the Glass project. Ross reports to Tony Fadell, who is the founder Nest, now owned by Google.

The Project Aura team has been hiring engineers, software developers and project managers from Amazon.com’s hardware-focused research division Lab126.

The initial version of Glass, which sold for $1,500, failed to live up to expectations despite the hype. Battery issues, privacy concerns were raised about Google’s smartglasses and the company discontinued sales in January 2015.
