Steffan DeclueTo mark the eve of International Transgender Day of Remembrance, a talk was organised on the sensitive topic at Lamakaan on Thursday.

The talk focussed on the process of mobilisation for the LGBT community, planning of educational research on LGBT issues as well as for working on a better understanding of the issues.

The speaker, Steffan DeClue, associate director of Foundation Relations for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF) had a lot of insights to offer.

HRCF is the educational wing of the Human Rights Campaign, an organisation working to attain parity for gay, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender Americans. DeClue, shared many of his views about the HRC.

He envisions a world where the LGBT community is embraced as full members of the society at home, work and in every sector. He mentioned that many corporate organisations are a part of the foundation, which has already arranged many campaigns to change the thinking of the society at large. The interactive evening was an inspiring one to the audience, and certainly sensitized them towards the needs relevant to the topic.
