Rotary District 3150 will indulge in services of providing blood collection vans and dialysis service center for the public, announced Gopinath Reddy, district governor of Rotary District while addressing the media at the end of The Rotary Foundation Orientation Seminar at FTAPCCI Hall, Red Hills on Sunday.

The two blood collections vans will go door-to-door to collect blood from interested donors. “Blood is a life, everybody has it, and everybody needs it. Though people want to donate blood, they don’t have the time. To address this issue we are going to introduce two blood collection vehicles on pilot project basis in the city. The vehicles will go to many areas and people can come in their leisure and donate blood. Thus we are giving opportunity to those who are sincerely willing to donate blood,” Gopinath said.

“We have already raised the necessary funds through the Rotary Foundation and through our international charity partners,” he added. If this works out well, we will extend the programme to 12 other revenues district where Rotary Club has its presence, he said. The Rotary District 3150 is also planning to set up a Free Dialysis unit with a grant of $3, 30,000 which is in the process.

Gopinath Reddy stated that the District would also take up another ambitious activity, i.e, Integrated Development of Schools Projects. “Under this we will work with schools for integrated development. We plan to spend Rs 3.5 lakh on each school and we would like to extend this project to 50 schools. This project outlay will be 1.6crore,” he said.

Apart from this the organisation also plan on setting up a vocational training center in association with a frontline Sewing Machines Manufacturer for women. “We believe in earn and learn. Under this concept if we train girls of 8th to 9th class in some basic tailoring jobs, they will also earn while learn,” said Gopinath Reddy. “We will also work on total literacy project,” he added.

Rotary International Director Dr Manoj Desai also took part in the event. Addressing the gathering he sensitised people to donate generously for the Rotary Foundation. The foundation gives back many folds by supporting needy projects, he said. “Under Swach Bharat Abhiyan, we pledge to build 10,000 toilets blocks in girls schools in next one year,” he said.
