The recent Kuchipudi dance recital at Shilparamam by a duo of talented youngsters, Heera Meghana and Shanmukhapriya was well received. Twelve-year-old Meghana learned this classical art from Pasumarthi Seshu Babu and later Guru Radhika.

At a young age, Meghana has given stellar performances at various events like “Koti Deepotsavam”, student carnival celebrations, etc. She has also acted in Ravi Sarma's film ‘Jhalak’. Recorded music has nowadays become the norm. Meghana started her recital with “Vinayaka Kautvam” saluting the lord. Perfect timing marked her execution of the Jati and appropriate depiction of the god as the adored of all the other gods being the beloved son of Parvati.

“Bho Sambho” of Sadasiva Brahmendra in ‘Revati’ portrayed the story of Ganga being imprisoned in the matted locks of lord Siva and then her release. This item gave scope for an excellent display of the artiste's abhinaya skills. The “Pravesa Daruvu” of Bhama Kalapam, long and testing of any dancer's ability was carried off to applause by the portrayal of Satyabhama as the Nayika.

Kadanakuthuhalam thillana featured both the dancers in this sparkling composition of Balamuralikrishna. The last item, krishna sabdam had Meghana in the principal role. Krishna is called reciting his splendour and deeds.
