Tollywood actor Krishnudu of ‘Vinayakudu’ fame is contemplating on undergoing bariatric surgery to lose weight which will help him get fit. “I am working on a film that requires my present size. As soon as I’m done, I want to undergo a surgery that will help me lose weight and fat,” he said at an awareness programme held by Anu Hospitals in the city on Wednesday.
Speaking on the eve of the Anti Obesity Day that is observed on November 26, Krishnudu said that it is very challenging to live an obese life. What’s worse is that an obese person loses self confidence and slips into psychological depression over his/her weight. It is the need of the hour to spread the message of the hazards involved with it.
Obesity is growing to become a deadly disorder among humans, which is leading to serious health complications among young and old. About 5 per cent in the total population of our country are obese and 90 per cent of the deaths among them are due to heart attack. Bariatric surgery is a boon for people suffering with obesity which aids in containing the levels of diabetes and hypertension in the body, said Bariatric surgeon Dr G Ramesh.
Speaking at the awareness programme held at Gems Femme World, Dr Ramesh said that Obesity was a problem that is considered severe in developed Western countries but it has also become massive in a country like ours. Extensive and frequent intake of readymade foods that are rich in cholesterol and unhealthy components, neglecting physical exercise, increasing stress and changes in lifestyle are affecting children between 14 to 25 years of age and people above 40 years.
With the help of Bariatric surgery, there would be a drastic change in the weight loss of the patient who is operated such that he consumes less. The desire to eat comes down after the surgery and the procedure is proven effective. Also, the surgery leaves no marks or scars on the body and is blood less, he added.
Director of the Gems Femme World Dr K Sridevi spoke about the non surgical weight loss programme, ‘Cryolipolisys’ and announced that they are giving a 70 per cent discount on the procedure that helps losing inches in the body.
