Temples across the city witnessed long queues of devotees, on Wednesday in view of ‘Karthika Pournami’, the traditional festival celebrated on the full moon day of ‘Karthika Masam’.

A large number of devotees, took a holy dip in the River Krishna at Durga Ghat before offering puja at the Lord Shiva temples. Temples were decked up and reverberated with the chanting of ‘Om Namah Sivaya’ and ‘Hara Hara Mahadev’.

They also performed Satyanarayana Swamy Vratam coinciding with Pournami at various temples and their residences. A similar rush of pilgrims was witnessed at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam, atop Indrakeeladri, One Town Sivalayam, Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, Yanamalakuduru and Governorpet Kasi Visweswara Swamy Temple.

The devotees also observed a fast and women on the occasion set afloat pramidalu (lamps) in the waters for the well-being of their family.
