History
According to locals, the area was once a place of Gundlu (rock boulders) and there was a small Pochamma temple nearby. In the course of time, the village was known as Gundlapocahampally (Gundlu = boulders, Pochamma = village deity, Pally = place). The village was developed in a phased manner since the 1990s and has now turned into one of the best villages in the Medchal Mandal. The Apparel Export Park, which was opened in 1999, has all leading apparel factories that export to the world market. Few of them are Chermas, Karthik Exports, Aparna Kanopy and Sai Bhavani Garments.
Problems
Industrial pollutants are posing a problem for the lakes of the area. Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat Beri Eshwar said, “They submitted a proposal for water treatment plant at cost of Rs 1 crore in their annual budget to the Mandal Praja Parishad Development Officer (MPDO), which needs to be sanctioned at the earliest, to treat the water pollutants before they merge in the lakes.”
