The presence of legendary “flying Sikh” Milkha Singh lifted the spirits of the first timers and gave moral support for those repeating the feat at the 13th edition of the Hyderabad 10K Run on Sunday.

Around 10,000 enthusiastic runners participated displaying Hyderabadi flavour amidst their resolve to run for cause, ranging from small kids to senior citizens; amateur runners to professional athletes; students to army jawans.

Speaking before flagging-off the Run, Milkha Singh encouraged people to take interest in sports. “The organisers have done a great job hosting the Run. I urge them to setup a training academy to train budding runners irrespective of their financial status,” he said. At the end of his message, Singh urged youngsters of India to achieve a medal in Olympics, which he had lost and hoped that this dream will be fulfilled.

Later Milkha Singh along with the organisers flagged off the Run with the Elite 10 Run Category followed by 10 K Run Open Category.
