South India’s biggest Goushala, Satyam Shivam Sundaram Gau Nivas organised an Annakut Celebration ‘Annakut-Prasad’ at its premises in Gaganpahad on Sunday. Around 5,000 devotees participated in the celebrations offering food to God.

Speaking on the occasion, Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh said that no cow shelter must suffer lack of grass and feed for its animals. “There is no better seva than gou (cow) seva,” he said.

Explaining the significance of the festival, Dharam Raj Ranka of the Gau Nivas said that it is celebrated at the beginning of each New Year. “As part of the Diwali celebrations Hindus around cook a variety of vegetarian items, snacks, sweets, pickles and delicacies and these are offered to God,” he said.
