Home Minister appeals for liberal donation to ex-servicemen fund

The Directorate of Sainik Welfare celebrated the Armed Forces Flag Day in Somajiguda on Monday, to commemorate the monumental sacrifices made by the personnel in defending the territorial integrity of the nation, both during war and peace.

Participating in the event, Home Minister of the State, Nayani Narasimha Reddy appealed to people to donate liberally for the Armed Forces Flag Day fund, which will be utilised for the welfare and well-being of ex-servicemen, their family members and dependents.

“The Fund been established by the Government to rehabilitate and restore the honour of war veterans, war widows, disabled soldiers, ex servicemen and their families,” said Reddy.

Colonel P Ramesh Kumar (Retd.) Director of Sainik Welfare said, “The Indian Armed forces has always been at the forefront in support of the nation during natural calamities like earthquake, floods and cyclone. Their selfless sacrifices to ensure the safety of citizens make the country proud.”

He appealed to the citizens to join in expressing their solidarity with the valiant Armed Forces personnel and voluntary contribute their might for the Flag Day fund in cash through Hundi Boxes being circulated at places in the State.

The event was attended by MS Prabhakar Rao, Member of Legislative Council, Capt. V Lakshmikantha, Anurag Sharma, Director General of Police, Anita Rajendra, Secretary to Govt. Home Department and Air Commodore Ghorpade and others.
