“Stay strong, enjoy every little things in life,” Daggubati Rana told students of Glendale Academy while participating in the Go Green Initiative undertaken by the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO) on Tuesday. “What you are now, what you like now, will define what you will be,” he said.

Encouraging the eco-friendly efforts taken by the members of YFLO and joining the Go Green bandwagon, the actor planted two saplings and named them Bhavani and Thabobia at the event.

He then administered a green pledge to the students and promised to imbibe the motto Nature nurtures. They also took pledge to Grow the green, Reduce-Reuse and Recycle, Curb the Car and Save the Big Blue.

He then presented awards to winners of art and collage competition of children of Glendale Academy, Zilla Parishad High School, Kulsumpura Govt. High School and Erramanzil Govt. High School to spread awareness of plantations and how to counter ill effects of Global Warming. The topic for the competition was “Best of Mother Nature versus Worst of Human Nature”.

Over 50 YFLO members and children of the school participated in the event. "This is a small initiative towards a bigger goal. Every tree makes a difference. Let's plant a tree", said Samia Alam Khan, Chairperson of YFLO while welcoming the gathering. “With global warming increasing year by year, we are in desperate need for action against the ongoing destruction of our natural resources.

One simple effort to plant a tree is all it takes. Trees act as a ‘Carbon Sink’ by trapping Carbon Dioxide and directly counteract global warming. They control climate by moderating the effects of the sun, rain and wind. Leaves absorb and filter the sun’s radiant energy, keeping things cool in summer. The fundamental focus of the Go Green Initiative is to educate our future generations to be mindful and sensitive to the natural environment in our daily lives,” she said.
