Over 220 members of the Gandhi Hospital Nursing Staff declared an indefinite strike form Thursday, till their legitimate demands are met.

The Gandhi Hospital Outsourcing Servicing and Sanitation Central Workers Struggle Committee said that their efforts to contact the concerned authorities and have their problems addressed by the government have gone in vain. “As such, we have no other way except to go on an indefinite strike,” said a member.

Earlier, the Committee had submitted a strike notice to the Superintendent of the Hospital requesting him to resolve their long pending demands, such as regularisation of services and hike in wages on par with the permanent staff.

All their A Narasimhulu, general secretary of the All India Trade Union Congress (Greater Hyderabad Zone) and T Venkatesh, president of the Center of India Trade Union (Hyderabad Zone) along with members, B Megha Mala, B Prameela, B Indira, D Upendra, Madhu, Lata, G Sabita, Suvarna, Sudha and other nursing staff participated in the strike.
