City-based para-cyclist, Aditya Mehta has embarked on another sojourn on his cycle, which began on Monday. The ride is a 1,450 km journey from Delhi via Gujarat, Rajashthan and Maharashtra, which will end in Mumbai that the double silver medallist (Asian Para-Cycling Championships 2013) plans to accomplish in six days.

The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Pal Gurjar flagged off the ride in the presence of ADG, BSF, KK Sharma, who extended his support to all the cyclists and to boost their enthusiasm.

What separates this challenge from previous ones is that Aditya is riding without his prosthetic limb. His aim is to raise funds for the ‘Aditya Mehta Foundation’ to provide amputees with artificial limbs, fund their education and provide sports equipment specially designed for the physically challenged.

In addition, the ride will raise awareness about sports for the athletes with disabilities and also help the personnel from Police and Paramilitary forces, who lost their limbs on duty. This ride also serves as a curtain raiser for the Manali - Khardung ‘La Cycle’ ride, which is scheduled in the coming year from August 1-15.
