The South Central Railway (SCR) has done it again. Saving upto 8.56 lakh units of electricity amounting to Rs 68.91 lakh in 2014-15, the Secunderabad headquartered SCR witnessed a windfall of the BEE Efficiency Awards and created a record of sorts with its transportation behemoth bagging seven out of the 24 awards.

The first prize in office building sector was awarded to Centralised Training Academy for Railway Account (C-TARA) located at South Lallaguda, Secunderabad. The building saved 24.75 per cent savings in the consumption of electrical energy in the last financial.

The National Energy Conservation Shield Second Prize in General Category Sector was awarded to Kazipet Pump House. The Pump House achieved a saving in consumption of energy to the extent of 37.93 per cent in 2014-15.

Five other prizes are Certificate of Merit for Sheepmandi Pump House in general category sector with an energy saving of 21.90 per cent; Kacheguda Railway Station in Railway Stations Sector with an energy conservation of 27.28 per cent; Divisional Railway Manager’s Office Building in Office Buildings Sector with an energy conservation of 22 per cent; Central Hospital, Lallaguda, Secunderabad in Hospitals Sector with an energy saving of 16.56 per cent; and Zonal Railway Training Institute at Moula Ali in Universities and Engineering Institutions Building Sector with an energy conservation of 19.81 per cent.

This is the sixth year in a row for SCR to be receiving awards for adopting energy conservation measures.
