Winters and barbeques in Hyderabad never fail. And come winter, the Alfresco at Taj Krishna religiously opens up the place during Friday evenings, serving international grills made hot and fresh from the live counters. Pair the hot and smoky delights with the spirits and you have the best combo. Winters and barbeques in Hyderabad never fail. And come winter, the Alfresco at Taj Krishna religiously opens up the place during Friday evenings, serving international grills made hot and fresh from the live counters. Pair the hot and smoky delights with the spirits and you have the best combo. This year, the hotel also has a singer, Sonia Saigal belting out some of the best all-time hit tracks of English music in her heavenly voice.

One stroll across the beautifully lit up lawns reveals the live counters displaying mindboggling variety of fresh meats, sea-food and a bit of vegetarian options ready to be grilled and barbequed to perfection and you are spoilt for choice – alongside of Indian grills like the murgh Peshawari, zaffrani murgh tikki, gosht shammi kebab being made in tandoor, hariyali tawa machli and tala ghost; are the barbequed spiced shredded lamb, Cajun spiced buffalo loin medallion, Balsamic mustard chicken tenders, chimichuri spiced chicken, melt-in-the-mouth sausages like smoked frankfurters, German pork bratwurst, pork nuremberg sausages, herbed chicken sausages, smoked streaky bacon and some delightful seafood - sumac spiced prawns, kaffir lime scented prawns, chilli lime scented squids, lemongrass cured octopus, Moroccan charmoula mackerel, peri peri spiced fish. Mildly flavoured, soft, succulent grills can be had leisurely over the evening, savouring each one of the tastefully chosen item from the menu. Our recommendations are the kaffir lime scented prawns, the Moroccon mackerel, chimichuri spiced chicken, sausages and do try out the teppanyaki.

There is also the salad and main course to try out, in addition to the mention-worthy dessert counter - bread & butter pudding, cheesecake and the crowning glory – hot crepes served with honey and chopped walnuts and topped with orange sauce…At Rs 2,300, all inclusive, the Alfresco Barbeque is amazing value for money.
