Participating in the clothes distribution programme as part of Christmas celebrations at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in the town on Wednesday, Ganesh Gupta who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that the Telangana government was striving for the welfare of all categories of people, irrespective of their caste and religion.
He said that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao gave equal importance to all religions conducing the religious festivals officially. He said that the Government has decided to conduct Christmas celebrations officially and would distribute clothes to 1,000 poor people in each and every Assembly constituency, at the premises of the Collectorate in the town on December 19.
In her speech, District Collector Yogita Rana said that the Chief Minister decided to introduce this scheme to benefit the poor Christians. The government would also distribute 4,000 clothes to the poor people, HIV patients and orphans, she added.
Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy, Additional Joint Collector Rajaram, Trainee Collector Jyothsna, Minority Welfare Officer Prem Kumar, Pastors and Christians were present on the occasion.
