Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar urged the contesting candidates of various parties to cooperate for the smooth conduct of the coming up local bodies MLC elections in the district.

The District Collector and Returning Officer and Joint Collector K Babu Rao have organised an awareness programme on the rules and regulations of MLC elections, guidelines, election code, polling method and preferential voting system for contesting candidates at JC chambers in the Collectorate here on Thursday.
Addressing the participants, District Collector Lokesh Kumar said that polling will be conducted in the four divisions of Khammam, Kothagudem, Palvancha and Bhadrachalam on December 27 from 8 am to 4 pm.
Preferential voting system is introduced for the local bodies MLC elections and the voters, who are sick and illiterate, would be provided with a person to assist them during voting, the Collector
explained.
All the arrangements were in place for the smooth conduct of elections in the district as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The counting of votes will be carried at Ambedkar Bhavan in Khammam on December 30, said the District Collector Lokesh Kumar.
