Hyderabad: Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that the first phase of Polvaram Multipurpose Irrigation Project would be completed by the end of 2018.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said that the State government showed its commitment in fast tracking irrigation projects, by completing the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project (PLIP) in a record time.
“It is with the same zeal the government will complete the first phase of the Polavaram project,” he added. “Apart from the Polavaram Project, for the first time in the country, the State has gathered details of water availability and water demands mandal wise.
Armed with this comprehensive water requirement mapping, steps would be initiated in chalking out the action plan, to bring lands across the State under cultivation,” the Minister said.
Umamaheswara Rao said that mapping activity would be taken up under Neeru-Pragathi programme and added that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would make a statement in this winter session of
assembly.
