Karimnagar: Even as the Andhra Pradesh government decided to book the members of Call Money gang under Nirbhaya Act for sexual exploitation of the women, the Telangana State government has not initiated any step in that direction in connection with ASI Mohan Reddy’s money lending case.

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the police officials to register Nirbhaya case against the members of Call Money gang which used to exploit women sexually.
Various peoples’ organisations found fault with the government for trying to weaken the issue. Thought there were incidents of misbehaving with the women by benamis and henchmen of Mohan Reddy, the CID, which is investigating ASI’s illegal finance case, seems to have not paid its attention on that matter.
Number of victims in their police complaints, stated that they were physically touched and dragged by the members of money lending gang. Women were also abused with filthy language, the complaints read. Some of the women also informed this matter to the media persons while addressing press conferences.
According to the section 354 A (clause (i)) of Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013, physical contact and advances involving unwelcomed and explicit sexual overtures are crime.
One of the victims said, “If anybody fails to return the loan amount within the time or refused to sign on the papers to transfer the mortgaged property on the names of ASI benamies, Mohan Reddy along with his henchmen used to visit the residence of the victims and abuse the women with filthy language.”
In some cases, the gang members had also misbehaved with women by touching them physically. In order to pressurise victims, they used to threaten their children with guns at point-blank range, a victim informed.
Speaking to The Hans India, N Srinivas, Loksatta Udhyama Samasta leader, said CID police should also book Mohan Reddy’s benamis under Nirbhaya act since they had misbehaved with women while forcefully collecting the loan amount from the victims. Not only Call Money gang,
Nirbhaya Act would also be attracted in ASI case too, he said.
On the other hand, the victims, under the ‘ASI Mohan Reddy Baditula Sangham’ have been continuing their protest in front of the district Collectorate.
