Speaking at a press conference in the town, Purushotham Reddy said that as a leader of MPTCs Forum, he took up their issues like hike in remuneration of MPTCs and ZPTCs etc with the State government. He said that he was forced to contest in the elections as all the political parties have failed in fielding an MPTC as their candidate. There were 835 MPTCs in the total 1,110 votes in the Nalgonda local bodies MLC elections, he pointed out.
Stating that the powers of the Mandal Parishads have been diluted, he lamented that the MPTCs were not even getting respect on par with ward members of Gram Panchayats. Urging the MPTCs and ZPTCs not to be influenced by the camp and money politics in the MLC elections, Purushottam Reddy requested them to vote for him as their real representative in the Legislative Council.
