Flipkart, recently introduced ‘#FlipTrends’, a comprehensive and in-depth view into how India shops online. This one-of-a-kind study across 50 million Indian shoppers analysed consumer buying preferences between January 1 and December 14 2015 and offered a detailed analysis into what trends dominate the online retail space today.

“With over 500,000 unique customers, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together are one of the biggest and amongst the fastest growing regions in South India for Flipkart. The consumers from here also show one of the highest mobile adoption rates and a strong affinity towards online shopping,” shared a spokesperson from Flipkart.

What makes Hyderabad a key online shopping hub:

• Hyderabad features in the top five cities in India based on purchases

• Hyderabad loves to shop furniture online and is thesecond highest consumer of this category, placing Flipkart ahead of some standalone furniture e-tailers in the region

• Andhra Pradesh and Telangana arefourth largest buyer of mobiles, sports equipment, small home appliances and auto accessories

• This region holds thefifth largest customer base across India for Jewelry and personal care products

• Mobiles, mobile accessories and women apparelsare what consumers from this region buy the most often

• Hyderabad also appears to hold one of the largest reader base, with books forming the third most popular product in the region

Conversely, Flipkart also sees a huge popularity for products from this region across India. Some of the top local products selling around the far flung markets of the country are:

- Pearl Jewellery – featuring necklaces, bangles and earrings

- Pochampally Sarees – silk and cotton

- Kalamkari sarees and dress materials

- Leather lampshades

- Kondapalli Toys
