Hyderabad: With an aim to bring awareness on the contributions made by the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, children of primary wing of Sister Nivedita School celebrated ‘National Mathematics Day’ through a week long programme.

Children enjoyed a series of brain twisting and paradoxing math related activities that achieved a wide range of objectives related to knowledge, skill, appreciation and interest. Children presented songs on the theme of fraction, shapes, digits and so on making math an easy and fun filled subject.

Children attired in little Ramanujan, Shakuntala Devi, Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta enriched their knowledge about the work and contributions of these great mathematicians. On this occasion various competitions were held which include ‘Solve the Jigsaw’, ‘puzzle solving’ and many more.

The programme concluded with the speech of the Director of the school Harihara Prasad where he encouraged students to develop interest for learning math.

The entire programme created a thirst among children to learn many unknown simple calculation techniques that will help to remove the fear and develop an affinity for the subject.
