The South Central Railway (SCR) is mulling of developing two mega terminals at Cherlapally and Vattinagulapalli but, there are already voices emerging for a terminal to be developed at North Lallaguda.

Though the traffic congestion would be reduced considerably once the two terminals come into existence, it is argued that people who need to reach Kacheguda and beyond would have to spend a lot of money and take other means of transport.

All trains going towards Kazipet / Nalgonda will originate and terminate at Cherlapally and trains heading towards Vikarabad would originate and terminate at Nagulapalli. Traffic congestion would reduce considerably at Secunderabad station, too. However, passengers would have to depend on MMTS trains or some other mode of transport from the new terminals.

Noor, general secretary, Suburban Train and Bus Travellers Association said, “Hyderabad division is facing criticism for late running and stoppage of trains for long periods at outer signal near the Secunderabad station. If Tungabhadra, Ajanta, Devagiri and Ajmer expresses are handed over to Hyderabad division, all north and south bound trains will originate from Kacheguda or at suitable location of Hyderabad division in addition to Bengaluru, Yeswantapur, Mangalore, Egmore, Madurai and Venkatadri express trains.”

North Lallaguda opposite present Lallaguda station is an ideal place for developing new terminal for Hyderabad division where 1 sq km land is available. The quarters constructed by the Nizam State Railway are in dilapidated condition and several quarters are vacant. The site would be ideal as it is close to the city with well-connected roads.

North Lallaguda would be ideal as there is road connectivity to Begumpet, Tarnaka, ECIL, Alwal, Bowenpally and beyond. With the Metro Rail coming up at the closest metro station is at Mettuguda, which is just 2 km away from North Lallaguda.
